Alongside the global youth vote, our Global Judging Committee helps decide the teams that will present their Solving for Humanity proposals to experts at the United Nations.
In line with the important responsibilities of our Global Judging Committee, our judges come from all six inhabited continents and are leading scholars, executives, activists, scientists, and founders across all areas of human development. Scroll below to learn more about our judges.

Yasmin Poole
Yasmin Poole seeks to challenge policymakers to think differently. Her vision is for Australia to become a global leader in intersectional policymaking, with a Parliament that truly reflects the diversity of our communities.
Yasmin is Plan International's National Ambassador, advocating for young women to be heard in Australian politics. She regularly provides commentary on Australian TV and radio, such as Q+A, The Drum, and ABC News. Yasmin is the Non-Executive Board Director of OzHarvest, Australia’s leading food waste charity, and previously worked on gender equality campaigns for the World Bank in the Pacific region.
In 2021, Yasmin was recognised as the Martin Luther King Jr Center’s Youth Influencer of the Year. She is currently studying intersectional public policy through a MSt in Women’s Gender and Sexuality Studies at the University of Oxford on a Rhodes Scholarship. -
Juwonlo Michael
Juwonlo Michael is an education, environment and sustainability specialist with about 5 years’ experience. She holds a bachelor’s degree in History/International Relations and she is currently the Operations Manager at Green Growth Africa.
Through her leadership, Juwonlo has impacted over 5000 youth in 9 countries, within and outside Africa. She has empowered over 3,500 students in 16 high schools in six African countries to develop innovative solutions that address environmental challenges. She served on the judging committee of the 2023 Nigeria Energy Forum. She also volunteers with Climate Scorecard where she develops monthly reports spotlighting Nigeria’s climate effort.

Jennifer Lim
Ranked second in Asia Law Portal’s 30 women legal innovators in Asia to follow in 2022 and featured in the top 30 in the business of law to watch in 2019, Jennifer is among the most active legal innovators in the Asia-Pacific region. Presently at a leading international law firm, she advises global banks, digital banks, approved exchanges, major payment services institutions, fund managers, broker-dealers, fintech companies, digital asset intermediaries, digital asset exchanges, benchmark administrators, etc on licensing and regulatory implications as well as business conduct and governance issues relating to their proposed product and service offerings, corporate restructuring, mergers and acquisitions, change of control, relocation, outsourcing arrangements, etc.
A strong advocate for technology and digital innovation, Jennifer co-founded LawTech.Asia (a think-tank driving thought leadership on law and technology in Asia) and eTPL.Asia (a recipient of Meta’s research grant for research on Operationalising Information Fiduciaries for AI Governance).

Listia Khairunnisa
Listia Khairunnisa currently serves as the Graduate Education Program Assistant at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Energy Initiative. She is also a Fulbright awardee pursuing a Master of Public Administration degree at Northeastern University in Boston, MA. Born and raised in Indonesia, she earned her Bachelor's in International Relations there. Before her graduate studies, she served as the Technical Training Coordinator at Peace Corps Indonesia, providing technical assistance to American volunteers and Indonesian teachers through targeted training and capacity strengthening. Listia was also a researcher with SIGAB Yogyakarta, focusing on people with disabilities' access to financial services. Her passion lies in providing access to quality education and driving equitable changes in the environmental sector, with a special focus on benefiting marginalized communities.

Dr. Renuka Thakore
Dr Renuka Thakore, PhD, MSc, BSc (Hons) PIEMA AFHEA, Founder of the Global Sustainable Futures: Progress through Partnerships, UK, provides leadership to a global Network, administering multidisciplinary activities and research partnerships development platform. Renuka received the "Global Sustainability Award 2022," the "Development Leadership: Governor Enrique Tomás Cresto Award 2022", and "Global SDG’s Women Ambassador Award 2022". Renuka is recognised for her work as a global leader who has engaged and connected with academics, businesses, and individuals, bringing together Global South and Global North to involve them in climate adaptation and resilience and just transition. She has created a vibrant, strategically performing community that attracts enthusiastic like-minded coordinators worldwide. The network welcomes diverse sections and societies worldwide and is committed to ‘leaving no one behind’ while contributing to sustainable development goals (SDGs).

Tony Mutabari is a dedicated psychologist with a passion for unraveling the complexities of human behavior and mind. With a solid academic background and extensive clinical experience, he is committed to providing empathetic and evidence-based psychotherapy to empower individuals facing psychological challenges. His journey involves integrating various therapeutic approaches to tailor interventions to each unique client.
Through continuous learning and research, he strives to contribute to the evolving field of psychology while fostering a safe and nonjudgmental environment for personal growth. Additionally, he is a scholar and researcher on upcoming topics based on innovation, information technology, climate change, political science and business.

Falguni Tailor
Falguni Tailor is an architect-urban planner with a primary research focus on coastal and ocean management's convergence with sustainable development. With over seven years of professional experience, she has worked on diverse interdisciplinary projects involving various stakeholders, including government officials, NGO representatives, practitioners, academicians, researchers, and local communities. Currently, she works at the Dr Kiran C Patel Centre for Sustainable Development at the Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar, where she coordinates research, education, outreach, and capacity building programmes in sustainable development. She holds a Bachelor of Architecture from Jadavpur University, Kolkata, and a Master of City Planning from Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur.

Aritra Chakrabarty
Aritra Chakrabarty is a PhD student at Michigan Technological University (MTU) in the Environment and Energy Policy (EEP) program. Aritra's research focuses on social sustainability of renewable energy in the Global South, and his work is based on Gender and Energy Transitions. As a public policy researcher, his research is situated in energy and environment policies. His work is based on the integration of gender, energy and development. It focuses on energy policy at community scale and Just energy transition in the Global South. His expertise lies in the renewable energy sector, specifically research and analysis, project management, and program design. In the past, he has worked as a renewable energy sector consultant in South Asia, across both sides - large - scale solar grids (had audited one of the largest solar parks in the world) in the commercial sector, as well decentralized solar in the rural household sector.

Hadi Erfani
Hadi Erfani is a researcher and engineer with the Society of Professional Engineers International UK. His research interests are Chemical Engineering, Waste Management, Environment Science, Sustainable Development. His accolades include earning recognition as a Top 50 International Distinguished Young Researcher 2020, Top Inventor (Gold Medal) of the 2nd Beirut International Innovation Show 2021, Top Inventor (Bronze Medal) of the World Youth Invention and Innovation Award 2021, and a Top Inventor of (Silver, Bronze Medal) of the 15th Edition of International Invention and Innovation Show INTARG 2022.
He also works as a Reviewer and Editor of journals with Scopus and ISI Index and has authored 7 books, 3 translations of book, 2 chapters, 3 inventions, and 15 articles related to his research interests.

Nouira Mohamed Salah
Nouira Mohamed Salah is a multidisciplinary scientist currently working on sustainable development challenges for the Tunisian Ministry of Education since 2006. He is currently interested in integrating sustainable development into the national planning process.
Nouira is a specialist in climate change, SDGs, health and wellbeing, remote sensing data, and marine pollution. After securing his master’s degree in biology, he integrated himself into the sustainable development ecosystem to presently lead the GCSP Alumni Hub in Tunisia and serve as a certified sustainability officer, construction LCA specialist , primary global ambassador at Singularity University, a country mentor at climate reality project , and other roles at diverse institutions in Tunisia and beyond.

Denaya Dennis
Denaya Dennis has more than 10 years of experience in the tech industry. He is the founder and Executive Director of Koneta Hub, an innovation led organization that is championing digital inclusion and rights programs, Incubation and SGDs solutions, working with youth and vulnerable communities in South Sudan. He uses the approaches of Human centered design in providing community driven solutions and believes in the power of innovation as a vehicle to sustainable development.
He is a 2019 Mandela Washington Fellow at the University of Notre Dame in the Leadership in Business track. A co-founder of Alela Technologies, a tech firm providing digital solutions and services to organizations and parastatal in South Sudan. He is a founding member of the Internet Society, South Sudan Chapter and the South Sudan Internet Governance Forum. He has spoken and facilitated workshops in several tech events and championed conversations on Digital Inclusion, cyber security and tech related policies.

Kendra Martinez
Kendra Martinez is a Masters of Public Health Student concentrating in International Health and Sustainable Development at Tulane University. With a background in STEAM initiatives, youth development programming and human centered design, she is excited to see the ideas presented by the teams participating in the 2023 Solving for Humanity Competition.
Her current research interests include the intersection of international relations, public health and international policy, with a regional interest in Latin America. She is passionate about the power of interdisciplinary research, extending to fields such as health equity, environmental adaptation, mitigation, and international development. She is also an advocate for community-based solutions and participatory research.

Nurul Hasnat Ove
Nurul Hasnat Ove is a passionate and dedicated young leader from Bangladesh, with a strong commitment to creating positive change in his community and beyond. He currently serves as the President of QS Impact & World Merit in Bangladesh as well as the President of Leadership Development Association International, where he works to promote sustainable practices, social innovation, and youth empowerment.
Furthermore, Nurul is the Representative of Bangladesh to the UNESCO SDG4Youth & Student Network and has served as a Consultant at the UNESCO MGIEP and has been involved in other organizations as an Ambassador like UN SDSN Youth, TheirWorld Foundation, Thought for Food Foundation, World Literacy Foundation, 2022 Max Thabiso Edkins (MTE) Climate Ambassador, etc. He has served as a Judge & Application Reviewer at the UNLEASH Lab India 2022,UN Solution Summit, Mandela Washington Fellowship, Solving for Humanity (SFH) Youth Innovation Competition, etc where he works to promote youth engagement and action on the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals.

Abigail Martinez Renteria
Abigail is an adult educator dedicated to social justice and sustainable development. She serves as the Mentorship Programme #ActionXSDGs Coordinator for MY World Mexico, actively promoting education for sustainable development. During her journey, she has collaborated with several NGOs, assisted public and private institutions in 9+ countries in different activities related to sustainable development, and guided educators’ professional development in issues around sustainability. Abi is also an active member of various digital action networks focused on climate change and sustainable development.
She holds a Bachelor’s in Education from the Autonomous University of Ciudad Juarez in Mexico, and an International Masters in Adult Education for Social Change from the University of Glasgow, the University of Malta, Tallinn University, and the Open University of Cyprus. Currently, she is pursuing a PhD as a UNESCO Chair in Adult Literacy and Learning for Social Transformation Scholar at the University of East Anglia. Her research centres around the impact of online learning networks on the learning processes and literacy practices of activists for sustainable development in Latin America.

Sonali Amol Bhutad
Sonali Amol Bhutad is a current PhD candidate in computer vision for designing an intelligent surveillance system for potential mosquito breeding site detection. Her work has won the CyientifiQ Sustainability International Hackathon in 2022 for proposing an innovative business idea for a sustainable supply chain management system. She was also recognized as an International Adroit Innovation Educator by “Green Thinkerz” in 2021 for pioneering innovative teaching techniques.
She holds two patents, four copyrights, and has published 16 academic papers, serves as a reviewer for numerous academic journals. sustainable development professional, and has delivered talks on building resilient infrastructure and sustainable industrialization at Western Sydney University, Australia.

Ruth Kitamirike
Ruth is a transformational leader who believes in the immense power that lies within young people. She has a commendable leadership track record as Chair of the Working group on social justice and democracy at the Young African Activists network, Guild Minister for Gender, Makerere University, Miss Tourism among others.
She has a decade of judging experience with the National Debate and Speech Council in Uganda.
Ruth is a young professional working with the Austrian Embassy Development Cooperation in Uganda specifically under the Governance Portfolio.
Ruth was a panelist at the recently concluded Human Development Report regional consultation in Africa.

Dr Alishba Batool
Alishbah is a passionate pharmacist and lifelong humanitarian. Alishbah's team project/initiative on social impact is focused on a climate action plan, public health and building community resilience to reduce counter-violence extremism that has impacted over 1000+ people over the span of 9 months. She has completed her professional training at prestigious institutions i.e. University of Oxford (Oxford Net Zero), National Institute of Health- USA, Stanford University (School of Medicine), and John Hopkins University (Bloomberg School of Public Health).
Her work experience from 2017 onwards has provided her with collaborative problem-solving and analytical skills. Her major project was on climate sustainability and public health, which impacted affected communities in Pakistan during floods. She is an advocate of reforms in education, health economics, and inclusivity. Her work is mainly on the UN SDGs 3, 13 & 16. Her interest has brought attention to clinical research, AI in healthcare, digital healthcare and developing policies in public health. She also collaborated with different departments as a lead researcher and won the award for the best project of the year. Besides her career, she is an avid reader and hiker.

A World Record Holder, she is BW Wellbeing’s 30 Under 30, and the former Regional Officer for Asia Pacific. A LinkedIn Top Communication Voice with over 64,000 followers, she is the founder of Break.The.Ice, an International Youth organization working towards breaking taboos and stigmas in society.
Break.The.Ice has reached more than 25,000+ individuals, in 10+ countries.

Sergio Gustavo Astorga
Sergio Gustavo Astorga is a PhD Candidate in Social Sciences concentrating in Economics and Innovation Management at the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana, Mexico. He is a Fellow of the National Council of Science and Technology at the Universidad Nacional de Cuyo and has completed post-graduate education in Latin American Studies, at the Universidad Nacional de Cuyo, Argentina and in Science, Technology and Society at the Universidad Nacional de Quilmes, Argentina. He has additionally completed part of his academic studies at the Department of Political Science of the Universidad del Cauca and at the Faculty of Administrative and Accounting Sciences of the Universidad de Boyacá.
Presently, he serves as a member organizer of intermunicipal projects at SIMAAS Sistema de Integração Municipal América Área Sul, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. He is also a member of the Network of Argentine Scientists in Mexico.

Sabatha Mthwecu
Mr Mthwecu is a young, dynamic and intelligent South African. He has years of experience in the Energy and finance fields and is accomplished in the academic field with multiple conference papers that are internationally recognized from Hong Kong to UK. He is a member of the Queens Commonwealth Trust and has raised over $1.5M in finance for firms and has been a small business mentor for the United Nations SDSN. He obtained his MSc. in electrical engineering from the University of Cape Town, the top ranked University in Africa, with a record completion time of 9 months.
He is part of professional organisations including the World Society of Sustainable Energy Technologies and the South African Energy Storage Association. His thesis was focused on modeling and macroeconomic analysis of a SolarPV/diesel hybrid power plant. He is a thought leader in sustainable finance and has moderated numerous panels on commercial solar finance at the largest expos in Africa.

Netra Naik
Netra is a young climate scientist, an architect, and an environmental planner. She is interested in how cities adapt to deal with urban heat and flooding. Her specialist areas and research focus are green infrastructures, nature-based solutions, and climate-responsive design and planning. She is an ex-International Climate Protection Humboldt Fellow from the 2021 cohort. She co-founded an initiative named ' Climate Beyond Borders' that focuses on making climate change science accessible and understandable to all. She has also been involved as a collaborative scientist with the Prometeruse Project, where she shared her research and taught climate change science to school children in Berlin and Poland.
At present she works as a research assistant at CIPSEM, TU Dresden. She has previously undertaken diverse roles such as an environmental consultant, green building architect, and a faculty at well-renowned firms and institutes, with a core focus of the work being protecting the planet and the people.

Adelaide Delali Klutse
Adelaide Delali Klutse is a Human Development and Family Studies graduate student at The Pennsylvania State University. Adelaide researches how contextual factors within and outside the family impacts family well-being and child outcomes. Additionally, she is interested in the translation of research into prevention programs and policy. Adelaide loves to engage with youth in activities particularly related to the achievement of the SDGs.
Adelaide is looking forward to a career as an Academic and International Development Expert who intentionally develops research-informed programs that help improve the Human Development Index of the parts of the world with the greatest need.

Mai Nguyen
Mai Nguyen is currently doing a Masters in International Development Policy majoring in Economics at Duke University. Inspired by the challenges faced in her impoverished hometown and with hopes of making positive changes to the community, she founded a non-profit organization in Vietnam, which focused on sustainability, community and economic development. She also has practical experience in fundraising with a particular focus on building relationships with donors in the field of education and community service.
With more than 8 years of experience in social work, advocacy, and fundraising, Mai is dedicated to creating positive changes in communities and international development.

Ye Khaung Oo
Ye is a Myanmar native and has an undergraduate degree in Economics and Government from Augustana University in South Dakota. He worked in fiscal decentralization reform programs for subnational governments in Myanmar up until the military coup of 2021.
After the military coup, he relocated to Singapore and has been working as a Research Officer for Myanmar Studies Programme at ISEAS Yusof Ishak Institute, a Singaporean think-tank dedicated to the study of socioeconomic and political issues in Southeast Asia. Ye is deeply committed to Myanmar’s development and hoping to contribute to Myanmar's ongoing discussion of federalism and decentralization.

Ekanto Ghosh
Ekanto is on a journey at Ashoka University’s InfoEdge Centre for Entrepreneurship to inspire and inculcate entrepreneurship, and incubate entrepreneurial ideas and initiatives. Ekanto has been a Teaching Assistant cum Analyst in the Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship at ISB, Hyderabad, and has participated in delivery of flagship programs such as the Technology Entrepreneurship Programme, Entrepreneurship Development Initiative, and the Chief Minister's ST Entrepreneurship and Innovation. He has also worked in the IT sector for Fortune 500 companies and has been part of a corporate Toastmasters club.
A military aviation enthusiast who has an appreciative eye for art, he is a Computer Science engineer and has pursued his Masters in Technology Management from the Defence Institute of Advanced Technology, Pune.

Benjamin Fields
Benjamin Fields is a Ph.D. student in sociology at the University of California, Berkeley. For his B.S., he studied Global Health and Development Studies at Cornell University. He has a significant amount of experience working in the development sector at the UNDP, Carter Center, and the Public Policy in Africa Initiative, with his projects and initiatives being in many contexts including Cameroon, Zambia, and Malaysia.
As a Cameroonian who is passionate about sustainable development on the continent, his current research focus is on global migration and how it is related to constantly changing development levels across the world.

Daphne Naudho is a remarkable community outreach officer at ALED whose passion for climate activism has shaped her life and made her a force to be reckoned with. Inspired by the urgent need to protect the planet, Daphne raised awareness about climate change and its impact on vulnerable communities.
Despite the challenges, she remains steadfast in her mission to create a sustainable and equitable future. Her determination and passion for the planet, continue to inspire countless individuals to take action. This serves as a testament to the power of grassroots activism and the transformative impact that one person can have when they fight for the cause.

Mary Patrick
Mary Patrick is a system thinker, youth leader, and peer educator who is passionate about using her skills and knowledge to make a difference in the world. She has been involved in activism and social justice work since she was a teenager, and she believes that system thinking is an essential tool for understanding and addressing complex problems.
Mary's work as a system thinker has focused on a variety of issues, including climate change, social justice, and education. She has worked with organizations such as SCA Community to develop and implement systems-based approaches to addressing these issues.
In addition to her work as a system thinker, Mary is also a youth leader and peer educator. She has worked with young people in a variety of settings, including schools, community centers, and youth organizations. She believes that it is important to empower young people to be agents of change, and she uses her skills as a system thinker to help them understand the complex systems that shape their lives.

Yu Ya Hwang
Yu Ya Hwang is a one-health oriented researcher. She is currently working in a think tank as a researcher, in Taipei City. She is a multidisciplinary talent, highly interested in international standards. She obtained her master's degree at a Medical University, gaining a solid background in research. Her research interests span both science and contemporary challenges of health statutory agencies, inclusive of EMA, FDA, regulatory science, novel indexes and WHO. She has served at WHA as a full delegate in one of the most impactful pharmacy profession organizations and been featured by a prestigious UK college during WHA delegation.
Furthermore, she has served in national debate tournaments as the host speaker in both opening and closing ceremonies. Outside of work, she enjoys debate, dancing, and cooking.

Dr. Vinoth Kumar
Dr.Vinoth is a doctorate and a post graduate in Hospital Management from Apollo Hospitals, Chennai. He is also a postgraduate in Business Management from Institute of Management Technology (IMT), Ghaziabad. He has acquired post graduate qualifications in Medical Law & Ethics (NLSIU), also in Materials Management, and Labour Laws with Administrative Laws. He is well trained in Health Technology Assessment (AIIMS) and Comprehensive Disaster Management and Risk Management.
He was recently recognized as one of the 100 Most Impactful Healthcare Leaders (Global Talent Listing) for the year 2017, 2019 and 2021 in World Health and Wellness Congress hosted by CMO Council, Asia. He was also featured as one among “Top 50 Strategists in Healthcare” in the Medgate Today India Magazine in the year 2021.

Adi is an expert advisor, co-author, ecosystem builder and generalist who supports early-stage founders across Europe and the UK. They help founders to develop their understanding of business, innovation, management, and marketing.
Focused on the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and key cause areas, they are passionate about making a positive impact in the startup ecosystem. They take a "give-first" and "learning-mindset" approach to support and mentorship.

Kitgak Simon
Kitgak Simon, a final year Electrical Engineering student at Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Nigeria, and a sophomore Computer Science undergraduate at the University of the People, USA, is a certified Climate Champion and SDG Advocate by the United Nations Sustainable Development Solutions Network. He is a 2022 Millennium Fellow Director and a member of Queens Commonwealth Trust(QCT) Network, SDG 7 Youth Constituency, and Student for Liberty's African Liberty Writing Fellowship.
Kitgak is a Renewable Energy Research volunteer with the Pan-African Research Group (PARG), founder of Kitron Green Solutions and ECO360pedia. He is also a Global Youth Ambassador with Theirworld on SDG 4, a PARAGON ONE Ambassador, and strongly passionate about SDGs 4, 7, 11, 13, and 14.

Dr. Ranjithkumar Rajamani
Dr. Ranjithkumar Rajamani is a young and dynamic researcher in nanobiotechnology in India. He received a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.,) degree in the field of biotechnology on June 10th, 2016, from Bharathiar University, India. He has domain experience in various streams of biotechnological research, and his academic progression has lasted more than ten years. He published more than 50 research articles related to nanocomposite preparation and applications.
He also organized national conferences in sustainable development and worked as an expertise fellow in the various domains of research, leadership, and administration at the Nilgiris Education and Research Foundation, India. He received the Vocational Excellence Award, the Best Young Scientist National Award, and numerous other honors. Presently, he works as a co-founder and chief scientific officer of Viyen Biotech LLP.

Carla Sabbatini
Carla Sabbatini is Executive Director of the UNESCO Chair on Education for Sustainability and Global Citizenship at Universidad de San Andrés, in Buenos Aires, Argentina. She leads several cross-sector projects aimed at educational capacity development for decision makers and educators in Argentina and Latin America, also forging global partnerships for multi-stakeholder knowledge-sharing initiatives aimed at contributing to a broader understanding of sustainability and global citizenship challenges.
Her current research focuses on youth engagement in Sustainable Development, particularly in Climate Action initiatives. She has over two decades’ experience as a teacher trainer and she has worked in public administration as well as the private education sector and NGOs, and she is also a consultant for international agencies.

Adrianus Muganga
Adrianus A. Muganga is an instructor and Project Secretary at Kaole Wazazi College of Agriculture in Tanzania. At Kaole, He is responsible in Research, project write up, monitoring and evaluation and conducting trainings for college students on the modules of Crop production, Organic farming, soil science, Extension and entrepreneurships.
Prior taking this role in 2018, Adrianus was the Founder and CEO of Youth association in Tanzania called “A Small Giant Group (AsGroup)” which was dealing with Youth mobilization on Sustainable Climate Change Adaptation and Resilience in Tanzania.
Adrianus earned a Bachelor degree of science in Agronomy from Sokoine University of Agriculture, Diploma certificate from Igabiro Training Institute of Agriculture, Secondary education from Bwabuki secondary school and Primary Education from Kijumo primary school.

Naveed Ahmed Unar
Naveed is a young engineering professional with diversified experience in the electrical power industry. His leadership endeavors and research contributions have given him a strong foundation for developing solutions that work at the intersection of research, policy, and strategy. He has performed in Pakistan’s premier federally regulated power transmission and dispatch and as a Fulbright Scholar studying energy systems management in California. He has authored seven research papers and has completed several academic and professional projects.
Naveed is also an experienced power system planning and development professional. He is currently working on electricity policy and planning reforms in South Asian countries addressing longterm energy crises.

With a strong belief in the power of technology and entrepreneurship, Anum aspires to create transformative spaces for young people with disabilities to confidently engage, lead, and shape the future of their communities.
